Drug Watch Foundation chosen to educate kids across multiple counties on drug use
Drug Watch Foundation, one of the UK’s leading drug awareness charities, has been chosen to lead on a widespread drug awareness programme across Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Merseyside and Yorkshire. The charity is engaging with School’s and MP’s in these areas to provide education and awareness to children in School’s of the dangers of drug use.

The charity which was founded in 2013 by a number of concerned parents, has gone from strength to strength and has delivered drug awareness courses to over 60 schools across the UK alone since its inception, with the charity aiming to double the amount of coverage over the next 18 months.

The charities leadership team all had first hand, traumatic experiences of drug use within their own families, due to drug addiction which led them to form the charity.

The project manager at Drug Watch commented -

“We are really proud of what we have achieved so far with the charity. We have built a number of successful relationships with MP’s, Councils and Schools across the UK and we are looking forward to spreading the word even further over the coming years. Our mission is to bring drug awareness to as many children as we can across the UK. We believe that by educating the children early in their lives, this will hand them knowledge of the pitfalls of drug usage.”

The programme delivered by Drug Watch Foundation sees experienced educators team up alongside former drug addicts to deliver Drug Awareness workshops to children within School’s. The programmes have been honed since the formation of the charity to really make an impact on the children during the sessions to ensure that the workshops are valuable and well received by the children.

Brian Carroll, Senior Education Consultant at Drug Watch Foundation has been working alongside the charity to build the drug awareness workshops experience. Caroll, who held the position of Head of Student Experience at Chesterfield College for thirteen years and is now part of the Drug Watch Foundation leadership team said –

“I can’t stress how important it is that School’s make investment into this programme with Drug Watch Foundation. School’s are responsible for offering students guidance not just in education but also in life skills too and with the UK’s recreational drug usage on the increase, we believe that by working together with School’s we can really begin to stem the flow of drug usage which will help the students but also the School’s too in examination results.”

Prison Governors Association Endorse the Work Being Undertaken by Drug Watch Foundation
The Prison Governors Association are fully in support of the work being undertaken by Drug Watch Foundation, educating young people so that they are fully aware of the effects and dangers that drugs can have on them.

Our prisons are full of individuals who have turned to crime in order to support a drug habit that often started in their teenage years. Educating young people about drugs is a sensible and effective way in helping them make informed choices which hopefully will mean that they will never become involved with taking drugs.

The Prison Governors’ Association commends the work being done by Drug Watch Foundation and wishes them every success in obtaining funding for this very worth while initiative.
